Municipal Utilities
The Board of
Public Works is the executive department that oversees the
business of the Utility.
The Board of
Public Works consists of four (4) individuals who are appointed to
membership thereon by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council
in such manner as other appointive officers are appointed and
confirmed. Such persons shall be qualified electors of the
City who shall have resided therein for a period of two (2) years
next before their appointment.
The members of
the Board, before entering upon the discharge of their duties,
take and subscribe to the oath prescribed for the City Officers
and shall hold office for a term of four (4) years each or until
their successors are appointed and qualified; provided, that the
first (1st) incumbents of the Board shall be appointed and hold
office for a term of one (1), two (2), three (3), and four (4)
years respectively. One appointee on the first appointed Board
shall be appointed by the Mayor as Chairman of the Board of Public
Works and all officers thereafter shall be elected by the Board of
Public Works.
