PERSONNEL (GASP) What
is GASP?
GASP is an acronym for Greenhills
Assorted Scuba Personnel. The team was organized January, 1996, to fill the need for an
Underwater Rescue / Recovery in the event of water emergencies in the City of Trenton or
Grundy County. The team will respond to water emergencies in a nine (9) county area.
They can also be used by law enforcement
agencies for evidence recovery or work with citizens to recover lost items in lakes, ponds
and rivers. Members consist of 17 volunteers comprised of personnel of the Fire Department
(2), Police Department (1), Military (SEAL) (1), Vol F/F (5), Instructor (1), and Citizens
(6).
Equipment owned by GASP includes:
- Trailer
- Wet suits to have six divers in water
- BCs and regulators for six divers
- Underwater metal detector

- Dry suits for extreme cold water for two
divers
- Flotation vests for two ground personnel
- Helmets for two ground personnel
Personnel trained to PADI Certification
