SUMMARY
The project entailed the purchase and training of Officer Riley (see photo below), a
German Shepherd that is used by local and area law enforcement for drug searches and to
assist in finding missing people. Money was raised for the purchase of the dog, training
for both the dog and handler, and equipment needed to operate the program, as well as
maintenance of the dog. Officer Josh Eckerson is the dog's handler who went through
eight weeks of training with Riley.
Plans call for the use of
the dog by both the local police department and area law enforcement agencies. A 501(c)3
corporation has been set up to allow tax-deductible donations to
be received for the programs. Persons, organizations, and businesses interested in making
